New Beginnings: The First Seeds of the Year

There’s something magical about the start of a new year in the greenhouse. The air is crisp, the soil fresh, and every corner feels alive with possibility. It’s the time when we plant seeds — not just in the ground, but in our hearts and intentions for the year ahead.

Already, the buds of the fig trees are starting to swell, a subtle but unmistakable sign of life emerging after winter’s quiet. In our greenhouse, the rhythm of growth is picking up: ginger and turmeric crops are being planted, their earthy aroma hinting at the wellness and nourishment they will bring. Lettuce and cruciferous vegetables take their place in neat rows, ready to unfurl their tender leaves toward the light.

From our propagator, a parade of young plants makes the leap into our growing systems — heirloom tomatoes, English cucumbers, melons, and vibrant peppers — each one a promise of abundance yet to come. Watching them settle in reminds us of the magic that happens when care, patience, and hope come together.

This work continually reminds us that food does not begin at the grocery store. It begins with understanding the land, respecting the animals, and working in harmony with the cycles of nature. When we pay attention to these rhythms, we become better stewards, better growers, and better nourished human beings.

A new year brings new life, new purpose, and new excitement. It is a time to embrace growth and to welcome the challenges that shape us along the way. Just like the plants we nurture, we too are growing, reaching, and unfolding into what we are meant to become.

We invite you to join us and see what we can accomplish together. Come to one of our Greenhouse Tea & Tour events, or experience the magic of our very first Farm-to-Table Dinner. Visit our website for more information and to reserve your spot. There is no better time to celebrate growth, community, and the joy of fresh, vibrant food.

Here’s to a year of new experiences, new challenges, and the quiet, unstoppable miracle of life rising all around us. 🌱
